Yesterday was our first day working at the clinic. We had an orientation before we left our housing and another regarding the medical care in Nicaragua and how the clinic originated. We were apprised of what conditions/diseases are treated there and what services are available. Then we toured the clinic. Afterwards we worked at various jobs, some purging files, some digging ditches, some twisting wire into rebar and others accompanying the nurses on home visits to patients.
We were tired and dirty at the end of the day yet enthusiastic.
We returned to our residence and SOTH were locked out of our 3 rooms but we all shrugged it off as 'one if those things that happens when you travel.' The rooms were unlocked shortly after dinner.
The Nicaraguan people have been warm and accepting.
