On Wednesday, our group had the opportunity to visit a coffee cooperative of approximately 43 families called El Porvenir. (Be sure to ask one of our group members about the exciting ride up the mountain!) We were greeted with lunch and beautiful vistas. One of the members of the co-op helped us to understand the history and economics of the farm, and how their crop has been affected by global climate change. We were given a tour of the farm and saw how coffee is grown, and a small taste of how the families live. One of the buyers of the coffee is a company named Their-Bucks. It would be worthwhile to explore purchasing this coffee for our congregation. www.onceagainnutbutter.com
